The picturesque valley of Matakana in a noteworthy wine region is about 1.5hrs drive north on Auckland and is rated one of the top 10 rides for the greater Auckland area featuring natural scenery and east coast surf beach.
The rural village of Matakana is our take off point and you may like to have a quick meander into Morris & James Pots or continue on down a rural gravel road and head over the hill for a great view of Omaha Beach and estuary.
Down tree lined trails, bush, eucalyptus grove, strawberry patch and farmland into the small “garden village” community of Point Wells where you will enjoy fresh made scones + fresh ground coffee with Mrs Jones on the deck.
On to the causeway across the expanse of the estuary to Omaha beach where if the surfs up, the Omaha bar break can have a fantastic left peel to view and then wind our way along the beachfront and then return.
Finally, enjoy a complimentary wine at the Ascension Winery as you reflect on a unique part of New Zealand where you can escape the world.
There is one hill that will require a short walk out and back using the electric motor “walk along mode”.
